Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026
Silver Dollar is a family organization app with home inventory, care coordination, and a built read-only Financial Care module. Financial Care is not currently available to families, production access is disabled, and no bank data flows today. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who can see it, and your choices.
Silver Dollar does not provide legal, financial, tax, or estate-planning services. The intended recipient feature is an organizational tool only. It does not replace your will or trust.
1. What we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. Your name and email address when you create an account or accept a family invitation.
- Photos and videos. Images and short videos of household items you capture through the app, plus any stories or text memories you attach to them.
- Extracted metadata from photos and videos. When you upload a photo or video we extract structured fields from it (date and time captured, GPS coordinates, camera make and model) and store those fields in your private, secured inventory record. See the section below on how we handle location data.
- Item details you enter. Names, descriptions, estimated values, intended recipients, room and property assignments, and any other details you add to an inventory item.
- Usage information. How you interact with the app, including pages and sections viewed, features and calls to action used, first-touch campaign tags, referring origin, landing path, a first-party visitor and session identifier, device or browser information, and errors. We may derive a coarse region and time zone from an IP address for security, rate limiting, analytics, and local presentation.
- Kit and waitlist information. If you chat with Kit or request an invitation, we process the conversation, tool actions, details you choose to share, your browser time zone, waitlist priorities, and the name and email address you submit.
- Financial connection and account information. If Silver Dollar opens Financial Care access and an authorized family owner or co-owner turns it on, we would receive read-only institution and account details, masked account identifiers, balances, transaction amounts, dates, merchant or transaction descriptions, categories, recurring activity, connection health, and provider consent-expiration information. Silver Dollar would not receive credentials used to sign in to the financial institution and cannot move money. Financial Care access is currently disabled, so no bank data flows today.
- Financial authorization evidence. We record who connected an account, whose account they said it was, the authorization language they accepted, its version and timestamp, and when the connection was revoked.
2. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the Silver Dollar service for your family.
- To power AI-assisted features such as item detail suggestions, search, similar-item discovery, and plain-language explanations of Money alerts already triggered by deterministic rules. AI does not decide whether to create a financial alert. AI outputs are informational only and do not constitute legal, financial, or estate advice.
- To send you transactional emails (invitations, exports, account notices) and, where you have opted in, periodic digests.
- To diagnose errors and improve the app through usage analytics and crash reporting.
- If Financial Care access opens, to synchronize authorized read-only account data, establish a family-specific activity baseline, identify rule-based patterns for review, display account health, and send requested alerts.
- We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your content to train AI models offered to third parties.
3. Photo and video location handling
Photos taken at home often contain GPS coordinates embedded by the camera or phone. Silver Dollar uses an extract-then-strip process to protect you:
- When you upload a photo or video, our servers extract the GPS coordinates, date, and camera information from the file.
- The extracted coordinates are stored only in your private, access-controlled inventory record. Only active members of your family can view this record.
- The GPS data (and all other location metadata) is permanently stripped from the stored photo or video file before it is saved. The file we store never contains your home address or any location data, even if it were exfiltrated.
Location coordinates are captured for every uploaded photo and video when available. They are used to help you organize your inventory by property and are visible only to your active family members. This capture behavior is always on and is not configurable, because it is a safety feature, not a preference.
4. Sharing within your family
Your inventory, photos, item details, stories, and care data are visible according to family roles. If Financial Care access opens, its data would be narrower and visible only to active family owners and co-owners who complete multi-factor authentication. Data is protected by row-level security: the database enforces family membership on every read, so a family member's data cannot be accessed by another family even by guessing an identifier.
You control who is in your family. You can invite members by email and remove them at any time. Removed members lose access immediately.
5. Third-party processors
We use a limited set of trusted vendors to operate the service. Each processes only the data necessary for its function:
- Cloud hosting and database. Stores your account data and inventory records in a secured, access-controlled database.
- Media storage. Stores your EXIF-stripped photo and video files. Stored files do not contain location metadata.
- Transactional email. Sends invitations, export links, and account notices on our behalf.
- Plaid. Would provide the financial-institution connection and read-only account, transaction, recurring-activity, and connection-health data if Financial Care access opens. No production connection is available and no bank data flows today. Plaid would present its own privacy disclosures during connection.
- AI inference. Google's Gemini service powers item features. If Financial Care access opens, it may also write a plain-language alert explanation from a minimized set of rule facts. Merchant names, account identifiers, transaction identifiers, dates, locations, and arbitrary raw rule payloads are excluded from financial explanation prompts. Content is shared only for inference and is not used to train models offered to third parties.
- Analytics and error tracking. Uses first-party funnel records, privacy-limited product analytics, and scrubbed error reports to diagnose issues and understand how the service is used. Marketing analytics can be disabled in your choices below.
6. Data retention, export, and deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can export your full inventory at any time as a PDF or spreadsheet from the app settings. You can request account and data deletion by emailing hello@sd4me.com. We will delete your account and associated data within 30 days of a confirmed deletion request.
If Financial Care access opens, when you disconnect a financial connection it is hidden immediately, Silver Dollar retries revocation with the provider until confirmed, and the encrypted provider access token is then deleted. Disconnecting stops future synchronization. The disconnected connection and its historical account, transaction, baseline, recurring, and alert records are automatically deleted after 30 days unless a shorter deletion request applies. While a connection is active, transaction and derived alert history uses a rolling 24-month maximum. Operational webhook records are retained for up to 90 days; security records follow the documented security, incident-response, and legal-retention periods.
When a family owner deletes a family, all members lose access and all associated data is scheduled for deletion.
7. Your choices
- You can update your profile information from account settings.
- You can unsubscribe from non-essential email communications using the unsubscribe link in any such email.
- You can export your inventory data at any time from settings.
- If Financial Care access opens, an owner or co-owner can disconnect a financial connection at any time to stop future synchronization and revoke provider access.
- You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us.
You can turn optional usage analytics on or off below. Silver Dollar also honors your browser's Do Not Track setting. This choice does not stop essential security, rate limiting, or the processing needed when you ask Kit a question or submit a waitlist request.
Optional analytics are off.
8. Children
Silver Dollar is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you by email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Silver Dollar after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
