How Silver Dollar handles your family’s information
Last updated: October 13, 2026
1. What we keep for your family
Everything below lives inside your family’s own protected record. The database checks that you’re a member of the family on every read, so one family’s information is never returned to another, even if someone guesses an address or an ID.
| Area | What's kept | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Your login | Your mobile number and email address, both verified, the text-message consent you agreed to, your name, and which families you belong to with your role in each. | What you enter when you sign up. |
| Home | Photos and short videos of your things, the details you type (name, description, rough value, intended recipient, room), and the stories you record or write about them. | Your camera and keyboard. A photo's date, time, camera and GPS position are moved into your family's record and removed from the stored file. |
| Care | The first name and relationship of the person you help, appointments (title, notes, place, provider), medications (name, dose, instructions, schedule, your own notes), and each check-in. | What your family types in, plus appointments copied in from a Google or Outlook calendar you connect. A connected calendar also receives the appointments you add in Silver Dollar. |
| Money | Institution and account names, the last few digits of each account number, balances, transactions with their dates, amounts, merchants and categories, recurring payments, connection health, and up to 24 months of history. | Plaid, read-only, and only after an owner or co-owner connects an account. |
| The assistant | Every message you send, every reply, which lookups it ran, how long each took, and what each turn cost. For 30 days, also what the assistant was given to answer each message: your family's priorities, a summary of your situation, and the page you were on. | The chat inside the app. |
| Your setup conversation | The written transcript of your first setup conversation, kept for 30 days. Never the audio. | What you type or say during setup. Spoken words go to Google to be turned into text. |
| Usage | Pages viewed, buttons used, device and browser type, your approximate city, region and time zone, and errors. | The app itself. You can turn optional usage analytics off under Your account in family settings, or on the privacy page. |
2. What we never keep
- Your bank sign-in. You sign in to your bank inside Plaid's own window. We receive a token that can only read, and we store it encrypted.
- Full account or routing numbers. Plaid sends the last few digits and nothing more.
- Any way to move money. We ask Plaid for one product, transactions, and it can't pay, transfer, or change anything at your bank.
- Location inside a photo or video file. It's removed from the file before it's stored, and the coordinates live only in your family's record.
- Recordings of your setup conversation. Only the words.
- Payment cards. Silver Dollar doesn't collect any.
- Anything sold or shared for advertising. No ad networks, no data brokers, and your mobile number and text-message consent are never shared with anyone.
3. Who can see what
| Who | Home and Care | Money | The assistant |
|---|---|---|---|
| Owner | Everything in the family. | Yes, after a six-digit code texted to their phone. | Their own conversations. |
| Co-owner | Everything in the family. | Yes, after the same texted code, unless the family is set to owners only. | Their own conversations. |
| Manager | Can add and edit. | Never. | Their own conversations. |
| Viewer | Can read. | Never. | Their own conversations. |
| Companion (your parent's own screen) | One person's Today list, appointments and medications to confirm, with a look at tomorrow. No bills, no other profiles, no inventory. | Never. | None. |
| The Silver Dollar team | When supporting your family, the team can open its records. | When supporting your family, the team can see connection health and transactions. Never your bank sign-in, and nobody can read the stored bank token from the app. | Conversations can be reviewed to make the assistant better. |
4. How long things stay
| What | Kept for | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Your home, care and stories | As long as your family's space exists. | Permanently deleted 28 days after the family deletes its space. |
| Bank transactions on a connected account | A rolling 24 months. | Older transactions are deleted automatically. |
| A disconnected bank and everything under it | 30 days after Plaid confirms it's disconnected. | Deleted, with its accounts and transactions. |
| Alert history and what's normal for your household | 24 months. | Deleted. |
| Your setup transcript | 30 days after setup ends. | Deleted automatically. |
| What the assistant was given for each answer | 30 days. | Deleted automatically. The conversation itself stays. |
| Assistant conversations | Until you delete them or the family's space. | A deleted conversation disappears from the app, and its stored record goes with the family's space. |
5. If something goes wrong
- You can cut your bank's access any time with Disconnect, and so can we. Plaid confirms the access is gone before the records are cleared.
- Error reports are stripped of personal details before they leave our servers, and the screen recordings attached to them hide all text.
6. Answers for the people you invite
| They ask | You can say |
|---|---|
| What can you see in my bank account? | Transactions and balances, read-only, up to two years back, with the last few digits of each account. Never your bank sign-in and never full account numbers. |
| Can the app move my money? | No. It can't pay, transfer, or change anything at your bank. It's built that way, not just a policy. |
| Who in my family sees it? | Owners, and co-owners unless your family is set to owners only. Managers, viewers and your parent's Companion screen never do. |
| Will I have to confirm small test deposits? | No. You tap Connect, choose your bank, sign in to it, and pick the accounts. |
| Why are alerts quiet at first? | Alerts need two months of normal to compare against. If your bank sends history, that normal comes from the history you already have. |
| Where do my photos' locations go? | Into your family's record, and out of the file. Anyone who gets the file doesn't get the place. |
| What if I want everything gone? | Delete your family's space, and everything stored under it is permanently deleted 28 days later. |
